A cosy Jazz bar, chic riverside cafes, Chiang Mai’s oldest Chinese restaurant, a specialty Japanese tea house and garden to a French cafe. They are all here is this quietly hip and rather international neighbourhood that’s around the Ping River and the Night Bazaar area.
Let’s take a look.
1. Magakoro Tea House
You’ll feel like you’re transported to Japan. Lovely specialty Japanese teahouse in lovely setting with a Japanese garden. They have a variety of teas and desserts to try. You can sit outside to enjoy the peaceful garden or sit inside in air-conditioning.

2. Nakara Jardin Bistro and Salon de The Restaurant
This is a really beautiful tea house / restaurant with a lovely garden by the Ping River. The setting is simply so lovely and peaceful and wonderful place to enjoy the cakes, pastry and other dishes by Le Cordon Bleu trained chef. My favourite spot is to sit by the weeping willow and watch the boats go by.

4. Jia Tong Heng - Chiang Mai’s Oldest Chinese Restaurant
This is the original branch of this famous Chinese restaurant that’s been open for 63 years! Good food and reasonable prices is what brings people back. Try the Peking duck, Drunken chicken, Hong Kong Crispy Pork and stir fried vegetables.

5. L’Opera French Bakery
Wonderful bakery with beautiful croissants, pastries and freshly baked breads. It’s also a great place for breakfast and lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea. It’s a very easy place to find - look out for the bright yellow building near Anantara Hotel at the end of Sridonchai Road.
